Hike Sedona ~ West Fork Trail
A Scenic Drive and A Beautiful Hike
Trail Description
Perhaps the most popular and beautiful hike in Sedona and about half way up Oak Creek Canyon between uptown Sedona and the edge of the Colorado Plateau. Getting to the trailhead is one of the most scenic drives in the country, according to Rand-McNally maps.
This is a gorgeous trail with a lot of flora, canyon walls and overhangs. There are a number of water crossings, so not a good trail to hike when the water is running high. About 2.2 miles in there is a nice red rock overhang. About 2.5 miles in there is a small side trail to the left that leads to a cave.
An incredible fall hike as there are a lot of deciduous trees; usually mid to late October.
The parking lot is gated and attended with a small parking fee. Gates open at 8:00 am and often fills quickly. Check the closing time and be sure to be back in time to leave.
In approximately 3.3 miles the trail in essence comes to an end, unless you would like to go further and wade across the creek.
Approximately 6.6 miles "in and out."
